Budget Matters 2023

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Budget Matters 2023: What’s next for economic justice for Washington state! Our partners, community members, advocates, policymakers, and more are foundational to move this work forward. We remain inspired and strengthened by this community.

This year’s sessions included a panel discussions facilitated by Research & Policy Director Preston Parish where our policy analysts dove into their areas of work and what policies are on the horizon:

  • Senior Fellow Andy Nicholas shared about what’s next for revenue
  • Senior Policy Analyst Evan Walker discussed about fines and fees
  • Senior Policy Analyst Tracy Yeung talked about Baby Bonds
  • Campaign Manager Emily Vyhnanek shared about their work with coalitions

Following the panel, we invited audience to discuss and bridge the gap between the intricacies of public policy and actionable steps we can take today, asking ourselves: What opportunities exist for economic justice at the local level? Which aspects of the panel discussion resonate with us on a personal level? How can we translate what we’ve learned into our everyday work, lives, and relationships?

Thank you to all of the generous sponsors who helped make Budget Matters 2023 happen.
